Introducing IMARIS 7.1

Imaris 7.1

Bitplane is pleased to announce the release of Imaris 7.1 - the most powerful and versatile 3D and 4D image analysis software solution on the market for researchers in life sciences, medicine and related fields.

Imaris 7.1 brings significant enhancements to pivotal key features within the software:

A. FilamentTracer becomes the first commercial software package to track both spines and dendrites in 3D over time. Researchers can examine statistics that change over time including information on counts, branching, size, shape, and intensity. Researchers can begin to explore spine evolution, for example during brain development, memory formation, stroke and other vital life processes with this enhancement.

B. A new Track Editor has been implemented and is available for editing tracks for Spot(s), Surface(s), Cell(s), and Filament objects. The track editing window shows an illustration of each object on the screen and its connection (track) to objects at other time points. The intuitive Click – Drag – Drop interface allows the user disconnect, reconnect, and modify track connections interactively with real time feedback shown in the 3D view. Editing is now quick and intuitive.

C. Statistical annotations are now available for display in the 3D/4D image view for every segmented object in Imaris. Choose the objects of interest, select one or more statistical parameter, the values are displayed as an overlay in the image. If the values change over time they are changed in the overlay as the uses scrolls through time or creates an animation. Bitplane provides yet another powerful way to highlight significant statistics associated with an image.

D. Rotational Drift Correction – ImarisTrack can track all objects in an image, even objects that should be stationary. The drift correction allows the detection of the true movement of the other objects of interest. Rotational drift correction can be utilized if at least three objects in various parts of the 3D image, that should not be moving, are selected as a basis for drift correction.

Additional features of the Imaris 7.1 release include:

  • A free rotation image processing tool
  • Improvements to multithreading functionality
  • Andor iQ ImageDisk reader
  • Additional support for ZVI files
  • IMOD data import functionality
  • Significant acceleration in saving and loading large scene files
